ABOR announces high schools that met FAFSA benchmarks in statewide 50 by Fall campaign

Seventy-three high schools reached the 50% FAFSA completion goal or demonstrated a 10% increase, earning financial incentives to expand spring FAFSA and college readiness support.

The Arizona Board of Regents today announced the high schools that reached the 50% completion goal for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as part of the statewide “50 by Fall” campaign. The campaign supported more than 56,000 Arizona seniors in completing the 2026-27 FAFSA during the fall semester, a major step that expands access to college opportunities across the state.

The effort was led by the board in partnership with the Governor’s Office and the Arizona FAFSA Coalition, reflecting a statewide commitment to helping students secure financial aid and pursue education after high school.

“Boosting FAFSA completion is one of the most effective ways to open the door to college, and these schools rose to the challenge,” said ABOR Chair Doug Goodyear. “On behalf of the board, I congratulate each school that met this ambitious goal and thank them for the important work they do for Arizona’s students.”

The campaign invited Title I and eligible public high schools to pledge to reach a 50% FAFSA completion rate by Dec. 31 or demonstrate at least a 10% increase in FAFSA completions during the first three months of the cycle compared to last year. Schools that met these goals earned tiered financial incentives, which can be used to fund FAFSA workshops, family outreach and college‑readiness activities in the spring semester. In total, $161,000 will be awarded to 73 schools across Arizona. A full list of the schools that reached the 50% FAFSA completion goal or achieved a 10% increase in FAFSA completions is available below.

Through the 50 by Fall campaign, Arizona saw strong FAFSA completion gains in the first three months of the 2026–27 FAFSA launch and maintained positive momentum into December, countering the seasonal slowdown that often occurs during winter recess. Over the past five FAFSA cycles, Arizona ranked in the top 10 nationally in year-over-year FAFSA completion improvement. In the 2025-26 cycle, the state met its 40% completion goal and ranked sixth nationally in year-over-year improvement.

Building on that momentum, Gov. Katie Hobbs announced a statewide FAFSA completion goal of 48% for the class of 2026 during the board’s FAFSA and College Readiness Symposium last fall. As of Jan. 26, 2026, 32.52% of Arizona public high school seniors have completed the 2026-27 FAFSA.
