Statement from ABOR Chair Larry E. Penley on Mark Searle’s service as ASU provost

“On behalf of the board, I offer my sincere appreciation and hearty congratulations to Arizona State University Provost Mark Searle as he transitions to a new role as a member of the faculty at the university.  

“Provost Searle is a champion of students, facilitating increased access for more first-generation, underrepresented and international students and raising the academic profile of the university. Through his stewardship and commitment to excellence, students were well served through increased degree options, research productivity and major gains in first-year student retention. 

“Provost Searle’s dedication to academic excellence has served ASU well, contributing to its rising profile among universities throughout the nation and the world. I appreciate his stellar service and commitment to public higher education in Arizona.”
